I am a Senior Lecturer in Psychology at Liverpool John Moores University with research interests in the psychology of body perception, including the perception of touch, pain and other physical symptoms. Before coming to LJMU I completed a postdoctoral role at The University of Manchester, working on projects funded by Unilever Research and Development. Prior to this I completed my PhD at The University of Manchester investigating the effect of attention on the perception and misperception of touch, with a view to understanding the psychological processes that contribute to medically unexplained symptoms. I am currently investigating body perception and misperception in eating disorders, and social influences on the boundaries of personal space. I also have interests in understanding the role of body focused attention in the perception of pain in Endometriosis and Premenstrual syndrome, with a view to developing psychological interventions for symptom management.
